Family Time

We have had the chance to enjoy some wonderful meals with our families lately. This picture is from California Dreaming after Brandon's Ordination service.

This one is from Chophouse 47...celebrating having my grandfather from Argentina visiting.

As you may notice, Baby Berry is also enjoying the scrumptious meals.

Brandon's Ordination

Brandon got ordained through Redemption Ministerial Fellowship International on Thursday, May 3, 2007. Here are some pics from the service. Apostle Ron had some amazing words to pass on to Brandon, and we are excited about the unlocked authority on his life.

He looked like he was going to take the devil's head off in some of these!

"Delight"ful Photo Shoot

Our friend, Meg Barron, shot some fun pregnancy pics for a photography project at Clemson. She had to capture the word "Delight".

More cute pics compliments of Meg Barron.

The Ever-Expanding Belly

My friend, Shannon, is about 3 weeks behind me in her pregnancy. She just found out she's also having a girl, so baby Berry can have a little friend! this picture was taken when I was 20 weeks 3 days. You can see in the background a picture of our friend, Carrie, who has two children, when she was about 24 weeks pregnant with her daughter. It's a lot more fun to be pregnant with friends (I know about 10 other girls who are expecting as well!)

Ta Da! The first of many pics of baby Berry.

Well, here she is! 4D technology is amazing, isn't it!?

Baby Berry (yet to be named) thought that picture taking time was really fun at 18 weeks. But after a little while she got kind of sleepy and shy.

Check out those soccer legs!

It looks like it's feeding time at the zoo! She has her mommy's yawn!

No more...I'm SO over this!

She also has Mommy's nose and Daddy's lovely lips. We think she's already beautiful and are excited to see her face to face in August (or, if we're lucky, a little bit before....I wouldn't complain if she came a few days early).

Starting to Show...and feel better

Well, praise God! I am not worshipping the toilet as much anymore. In fact, I think it's been a week since I've yacked. I was kind of hoping it would taper off a few weeks ago (I'm 16 1/2 weeks along), but hey...better late than never.

Heartburn and acid reflux are now my companions...along with my bottle of Tums + Calcium.

My belly is starting to poke out, and I've invested in some maternity clothing that should get me through the next few months, hopefully. I'm ready to stop looking like I've just gained 10 pounds and start looking pregnant.

Exercising is hard to do with school, work, church, volunteering, sleeping, spending time with B when we find a few minutes, etc...it's become low on the totem pole, but I'm trying to make some time for it a couple times a week.

We go on March 8th to find out if it's a boy or girl berry. Hopefully I can post the ultrasound then, too so you can meet him or her for the first time. We haven't had any ultrasounds yet, so it will be our first time to see the little tyke.

This may not be the most exciting post, but I thought I'd put something up just to give you a little update.

Also in the Berry life:
We're closing on and moving into our new home on Feb. 28! Can't wait to decorate and get settled!

I'm finishing my term for Fuller on March 16th (hopefully). I have 5 Masters classes to finish by then, so I need major prayers in order to get it done (the normal load is 3...for all you Furmanites, you know how that system works...think of it on steroids and that's what I'm dealing with until St. Patty's day).

Brandon spoke at a weekend retreat in Georgia last weekend, and will be going up to Boone for another ministry engagement in March. It's really been fun to see him prepare and deliver some great sermons.

We're in the discussion of getting a puppy...what do you think? should we get it before the baby and try to train it, or should we wait a while after the baby is born and then go for it? Any of you animal owners/parents, we'd love your input, as we're kind of clueless what would be best.

Morning Sickness is a misnomer.

It starts in the morning...when I open my eyes I get that carsick feeling. If I make the mistake of jumping out of bed (because of an alarm or full bladder or any other reason), it's definitely worse. When I get out slowly and eat a cup of granny-smith no sugar added applesauce, I'm usually okay for a little while. As the day progresses it's necessary for me to have something on my stomach. Usually, this is the applesauce. I've become a connesieur of the stuff.

For the first few weeks, I kept it down...nothing overt to show off my morning sickness. Then, just as it should have been subsiding, WHAM! Worship the porcelin goddess. Morning, afternoon, night...it can happen at any time. My favorite places to throw up so far have been on a plane, sitting in the middle seat with little airflow in the section containing my aisle between two men, one about 500 pounds (he truly was precious, though...telling me all about his grandkids as I stole his barf bag)...the Fuller library just before it closes after I tried to eat homemade chicken curry for lunch (used to be a favorite of mine, now it's just....tainted) with the lady who cleans up the bathroom coaching me through the process and waiting for me with a papertowel and some encouragement.

Anyway, I might mention that I cry EVERY time I throw up...it's involuntary and inevitable. So then you can add runny mascara and messed up makeup.

So, I just need to know WHO is the IDIOT that came up with the name MORNING sickness? It's like calling all jeans Levis. I don't like it, at all...not the name or the sickness.

What I do like is having a reason for why I'm feeling so bad....it's not just the stomach flu going around. I can imagine what my little one is doing...how he or she is developing, what it will feel like to hold the baby...Yep, it's all worth it. Hopefully the sickness will cease in a couple of weeks, but until then I'll keep my airsick bag and toothbrush handy, stay away from curry, and keep my fingers crossed that I'll be close to a toilet at all times.

A Joyous Surprise...

For the last few weeks, I've been feeling under the weather...stuffed up nose, sore throat, exhausted despite getting 8 hours of sleep, and to top it off, a rash developed on my arms, neck, and chest. Finally, I broke down and decided to see a doctor on Wednesday, determined not to let this thing beat me.

As the nurse was taking my history, she suggested I take a urine test. No problem. Send me to the lab. I finished up, cleaned up, and made my way back to the exam room and waited...

The doctor came back in and said she had planned to prescribe me some cortizone cream for my rash, but she couldn't because I'm Pregnant!

Whoa. My stomach jumped into my dry throat. My eyes got watery. I think I stopped breathing for a second...I was pretty surprised. Then overjoyed. Wow. New life, a perfect little gift from God. A blend of my precious husband and my own qualities. Our first arrow in our quiver. The next world changer.

I didn't even care about the other symptoms. How could I worry about a sniffle?

Brandon called on my way home and invited me to eat some dinner at the office...his staff had ordered our favorite pizza.

I stopped by the store and bought a bib that says "My Dad Rocks". When I got to the office, I took him aside for a little while and gave him his gift. Oh the look on his face when he got it. Priceless. He said the same things I did when he proposed, "What? Are you serious? Oh my gosh!" Then some sweet tears and hugs. I couldn't believe it was really happening.

It still doesn't feel real (except that I've been nauseus all weekend).

So many questions, thoughts and prayers have crept into my mind in the last few days. I wonder what the next nine months will be like, let alone the next 20 or so years. Our lives will never be the same. Forever changed for the better.

Please stand with us in prayer for a healthy pregnancy and a healthy baby. We are excited and very humbled, and are seeing God in a whole new light during this season in our lives.

Baby Berry! :)
